Wordpress Forum or Stand Alone
So here’s an interesting question I’d love to get some feedback on.
Do folks who frequent websites, prefer a stand alone forum or one that is built in to the site, such as the one I currently have setup here at www.InternetMarketersCompanion.com that uses a Wordpress Forum Plugin
The idea as to why I set it up was as a trial to get the same theme across both the site and the forum. There are a couple of bridge programs up there to help get forums like Invision Board (My Forum of choice), vBulletin, phpBB and others.
Most of these are beta at best and at worst will screw up your databases. There are other options where consultancy firms will bridge things for you, but my pride as an IT consultant myself prevents me paying for a service I could do myself.
Well I could do it myself if I wasn’t slammed with projects that is.
So let me know? Built in Forum, Stand Alone Forum or I really don’t care, either of them are fine.
For the curious, I’m using SimplePress for the Wordpress Forum plugin, it’s free, compatible with Wordpress 2.8 and it looks like they keep it updated with the latest WP revisions.
You can get it simplepressforum.com

Affiliate Branding
Something I’ve been working on for the next release of IMC Lite, Affiliate Branding.
What does Affiliate Branding mean? Well, in short you’ll be able to set your Affiliate ID in the program so that any folks that upgrade to the Pro version from the Lite version will garner you a 30% commission on Internet Marketers Companion.
This means you can offer a branded version of IMC Lite through your website and while providing your users with a great piece of software to help folks keep tabs on their PPC spend and income, you’ll also be able to pick up some nice affiliate income also.
Kind Regards,
Shane
Database location changes
IMC has been around quite a while now. It predates Vista and I’ve only just included support for Mac.
The Mac version of IMC Pro will be coming in the not too distant future.
As such some of the ways I used to do things need to be updated. One of these has been giving errors that are generally got around by running the program as Administrator on Vista.
I’ve got a few things coming in the pipe line but the next versions of both IMC Lite and IMC Pro will have the database moved to a more correct location which will stop some of the permission errors that have been cropping up.
Something else I’m trying to get in this next version is branding. This will allow folks who run their own sites and wish to promote IMC for fun and profit will be able to get a branded version of their very own to distribute.
This version will include their affiliate details and ensure they get a nice commission for every IMC Pro they help to sell.
Stay tuned.

Blasters IMC Lite Version 1.0
Hi Folks,
The next release of the blasters imc lite is undergoing final tweaks before release.
New in this release:
* Mouse over on merchant id in PPC and AFF tabs now shows the Merchant name.
* Program can check if a new version is available and download it to your desktop.
* Various streamlining and code fixes.
Kind Regards,
Shane
Blasters Updates
After some suggestions from the blasters, there are some new features coming down the pipe.
Mousing over the merchant ID in the Affiliate and PPC tabs will popup a merchant name. This should make it easier to keep track of accounts with many merchants. The basics are in and providing it doesn’t kill performance it will be in the next release.
Also coming in the next release is a version check and auto download feature. This is in testing at the moment and working nicely. Just need to tweak how it’s triggered and set preferences for it.
The new theme is getting great feedback and i’ll be playing with a couple of layouts over the next week or so. This is in part to facilitate a new forum that will be in the site itself. Once I can sort out a way to add users from Fantasos. It could be that folks will just have to register on the site to get access to the forum to begin with.
Kind Regards,
Shane
New Theme
Hi Folks,
Well after what seems like forever, we’ve managed to get the new Wordpress theme up.
We had the graphics done for us ages ago and while I’d used bit’s and pieces of it over that last few months.
We picked up a software package from Artistseer that will spit out Wordpress templates in record speed with a few clicks. We have been pretty impressed with it so far and for putting together a unique looking blog without having to be a php junkie it’s a good deal.
You can grab a demo or buy it from the link below.
Cheers,
Shane
Blast Versions Coming
I think we have the thumbs up from the beta testers and the long awaited FREE (as in beer) versions of IMC Lite are ready to go.
This is a cut down version, useful for getting a feel for how your Campaigns are progressing from a higher level than the professional version.
This is also the first release that has both a PC and Mac build.
XtremeProfits.com is doing the first release. If you have any questions drop by the contact form and send me a note.

Wiki Coming Soon
Hi Folks,
I’ve noticed that the manual has become sadly out of date. Rather than rewriting the whole thing and taking time away from getting some of the exciting new features into IMC, I’m going to add a wiki to the site.
This will allow me to add documentation quickly and easily as things change and also have it quickly available from the website.
As soon as I find a nice Wiki addon for wordpress or at least something that will integrate nicely I’ll get it up and running.

An Apple a Day
Well it took a while but I’m finally back in the world of Mac. It looked a good time to jump back in with the new Macbooks now having enough grunt to be useful and small enough to be nice and portable.
I’ve always had a soft spot for the aluminum laptops and spent a few quality years with a 17″ Powerbook back in the day.
What does this mean for IMC? Well of course you’re all going to have to buy Macs right?
Of course not. I use REALBasic to code IMC and it’s a crossplatform programming language. I already have the new IMC Lite ported and running on both Windows and Mac and it shouldn’t take me long to get the full version across also.
Actually what’s taking all the time is that I’ve upgraded to the Professional version which has a few more bells and whistles. Part of that upgrade process is that some of the objects I was using aren’t there anymore and they have to be upgraded to use the new objects. Nothing major, just requires a little bit of quality time.
I’m hoping to give the site a revamp soon, using the graphics I had made last year. My lovely wife is going to use me as a guinea pig as she starts creating custom wordpress themes.
Look for new versions with Mac compatability soon.
Cheers,
Shane
